These are conditions which our providers do not currently treat. We would instead suggest you see your primary care doctor, go to an urgent care center or go to an emergency room depending on the severity of your issue.


Behavioral Health

  • Emergency situations (suicidal, homicidal, self-harm)
  • ADHD prescription of stimulant (therapy and non-stimulant med management are in scope)
  • Active hallucinations or delusions
  • Substance use in active medical detox
  • Moderate to severe autism spectrum disorders
  • Internationally located patients
  • Conditions that require laboratory or diagnostic imaging to determine final treatment recommendation without lab work present for review
  • Under the age of 10
  • Any other conditions, or combination of conditions, that prohibit the patient from being able to adequately function in day to day living activities

Behavioral Health

  • DEA Controlled substances (ADHD stimulant medications, sleep medications, anti-anxiety benzodiazepines)
  • Stimulants (e.g. Adderall, Ritalin, etc.)
  • Medications intended for intra-muscular injections
  • Detox medications (e.g. Suboxone, Methadone)
  • Other drugs with potential for abuse, such as muscle relaxants, pseudoephedrine
  • Medications that require regular lab work and monitoring (e.g. Lithium, Depakote, Tegretol) when lab work is not present for review
  • Other medications as deemed inappropriate by MDLIVE and on the MDLIVE restricted medications list

The service is available to all veterans, even if they are not registered with the VA or enrolled in VA healthcare. People who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have hearing loss can call 1-800-799-4889.

Disaster Distress Helpline

Call 1-800-985-5990 or text “TalkWithUs” to 66746 The disaster distress helpline provides immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster. The helpline is free, multilingual, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Contact social media outlets directly if you are concerned about a friend’s social media updates or dial 911 in an emergency.
